Ajinkya Rahane, captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), made a surprising remark about the Eden Gardens’ curator, Sujan Mukherjee, following Wednesday’s four-run loss to the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025. According to the 36-year-old, the curator is already receiving a lot of media attention.
Ajinkya Rahane stated that he hoped the track would help spinners more following KKR’s crushing defeat to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at home, which sparked the commotion with the curator. Mukherjee, however, has refused to change the pitch in accordance with the hosts’ request and would only follow the BCCI’s instructions.
According to The Hindustan Times, Rahane stated during the post-game press conference:
“There has been enough talk about the wicket. You guys have spoken about it a lot. If I say something now, then the furore will erupt. Our curator has gotten a lot of publicity. I think he is happy with that publicity. You can write anything you want to about the home advantage. If I have to say anything about the home advantage, I’ll probably speak to the governing council or the concerned authorities than to speak here.”

Against the Super Giants, KKR spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine failed to claim any wickets. In particular, Narine gave up 38 runs in his three overs.
“When Virat or MS come here, it is normal for people to support them” – Ajinkya Rahane

The right-handed hitter responded that it is inevitable for there to be more support for Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni during games at Eden Gardens. The veteran asserted, however, that he is confident in the backing of the audience.
“You spoke about Virat and MS. They have done so much for the country. So it is normal for people to come out here and support them. It is totally normal. KKR support has been amazing. They are always behind us. The atmosphere and energy have been amazing. When Virat or MS come here, it is normal for people to support them.”
