Yuzvendra Chahal of Punjab Kings celebrates after dismissing Suryakumar Yadav of Mumbai Indians during the 2025 IPL Qualifier 2 match

Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the best white ball spinners of India. In T20Is, he has picked 96 wickets and in ODIs, he has grabbed 121 wickets. He is the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL, second Indian bowler in T20I. However, he has not been playing with the Indian team regularly in recent years and has been playing his last game in 2023. Chahal has been keeping fit by playing County Cricket in Northamptonshire in England. Although he has played less matches in India, he still has the good fortune of financial stability due to IPL and brand deals.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s IPL Salary

Yuzvendra Chahal picked two wickets in his first two overs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Punjab Kings

He started his career in 2011 with the Mumbai Indians at a price of only INR 10 lakh and got few playing opportunities initially. However, it is his big break when he eventually became the top wicket taker of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the year 2014. His IPL salary has increased to INR 6 crore per annum since 2018 to 2021. He won the Purple Cap in 2022 with 27 wickets after the Rajasthan Royals signed him off at INR 6.5 crore. But it was during the 2025 mega auction when he earned the highest amount of INR 18 crores and became the most financially secure players during the season after being purchased by Punjab Kings. The total IPL money he has made is INR 37.7 crore over the years.

BCCI Contract: Rise and Drop

Yuzvendra Chahal entered the BCCI’s central contract list in 2016 in Grade C. With consistent performances, he was promoted to Grade B but later dropped back. In 2022–23, he was again listed in Grade C and earned ₹1 crore that year. However, he was left out of the BCCI contract list for both the 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons — a reflection of his fading appearances in national colours.
