The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) just released an emotional video commemorating Virat Kohli’s Test career. The top hitter declared his retirement from the format prior to the Test series against England.
“The idea was to play Test cricket for India and that was always the goal. This is the highest level. The thing that excited me about Test cricket was the challenge. Good at this level is not good enough. Test cricket is the hardest. You have to embrace it, you have enjoy it,” he can be heard saying in the video.

The Video shares some of the most memorable moments from Virat Kohli’s career in Test cricket by showcasing multiple clips of him batting against different opponents at different locations.
“For me, it’s always been I want the result first. The motivation is I want to play for as long as possible for my team,” he says in the video.
“Inspiring intensity 👏 Incredible icon ❤️ The Former #TeamIndia Captain gave it all to Test Cricket 🙌 Thank you for the memories in whites, Virat Kohli 🫡#ViratKohli | @virat.kohli,” the Indian cricket team handle captioned the video.
The most recent Test series that Kohli played was against Australia, and the last Test he played was the series’ last Test in Sydney.
Virat Kohli – India’s most successful Test captain

In 123 Test matches Virat Kohli scored 9,230 runs, with 30 centuries and 31 fifty plus runs. Kohli oversaw 68 Test matches as captain taking over from MS Dhoni in the middle of the 2014 Australia Test series.
India won 40 of the Tests in 58.82% of the time, which in these 68 Tests has only been superseded by Kohli as captain by no other Indian captain in the Test format. Moreover, under Kohli’s leadership, India won 16 out of 36 overseas Tests, well beyond any of previous Indian Captains’ overseas successes.
Moreover, Kohli led India to formidable wins against Australia, England, and South Africa while being respected as a team in a position to win a foreign field in challenging situations.

While he steps down among the game’s leading batters, Kohli’s period as India’s Test skipper is one of the most resounding in the country’s team history.
