On Sunday, July 6, India defeated England by a resounding 336 runs at Edgabaston in Birmingham in the second Test match. As the action continues on to the third Test at the iconic Lord’s cricket venue in London, the Indian team’s all-around efforts across departments led to the victory and enabled them tie the five-match series 1-1.
In the meantime, a former Test cricketer Virat Kohli was astonishingly happy seeing the Indian team shine the brightest despite being deprived of the services of such important bowler like Jasprit Bumrah. Virat Kohli showered words of praise on Shubman Gill who was on fire with the (269 in the first innings; 161 in the second) before going on to give some special mentions to the India fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep who took apart the English batsmen courtesy their magnificent capacity with the red ball.

“Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubhman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch,” Virat shared on his official ‘X’ handle after the victory.

“We Were Spot On” – Shubman Gill Reflects on India’s All-Round Performance in Edgbaston Test

On the other hand, skipper Shubman Gill was also pleased with the manner in which his men proceeded with the match in Birmingham, especially following a dismal defeat in the first match of the series at Headingley. The 25 year old added that the unit had talked about a couple of plans before coming into the game after the loss and played them to faultless perfection. Bowling and fielding compared with the last one was brilliant to watch as the Fazilka-born put it.
“All the things we spoke about after the last game, we were spot on with all of those things. I think the way we came back with our bowling and fielding was tremendous to see. On this kind of wicket we knew that if we got 400-500 runs, it would be enough. Not every game will be like Headingley,” Gill, who was also the Player of the Match, told on air during the post-match presentation.
