India had won the final Test match at The Oval in a nail-biting match, and one player who took an ice-breaker with another player was wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel with the Player of the Match, Mohammed Siraj. Siraj was an instrumental part of this win which saw India even the AndersonTendulkar Trophy 2-2.
In an immediately viral selfie video, Jurel (who was standing in place of the injured Rishabh Pant) said sarcastically, “I believe only in Miyan bhai”, with reference to Siraj and his popular nickname. It was a mocking allusion to something Siraj had said of Jasprit Bumrah following his stellar exploits in the 2024 T20 Final.

The video demonstrated the high relationship that came between colleagues following a rough and emotional series.

Mohammed Siraj emerges hero

At The Oval, Mohammed Siraj contributed massively in India obtaining victory. During the first innings, he sent back important batsmen such as Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell, to end with 4 wickets with a score of 86. This was not the end of it, being able to come in again in the second innings, he claimed five wickets during which he bowled a total of 104 runs.
He bowled a record 185.3 overs throughout the five match series. He rose to become the leading wicket-taker of the Anderson†Hughes Trophy with 23 wickets at 32.43. He also had a total of one 4-wicker and two 5-wicket hauls as he led the Indian bowling attack when Jasprit Bumrah was unavailable.
His 5-wicket match-winning performance at The Oval saw him being given the Player of the Match award. What was more special was that he actually got back to form, after being criticized on his playing performance in the third test at Lords he responded to his critics in style and leveled the series 2 levels and 2.
India draw a historic series

This victory represented a handful of significant milestones for India. The side had never won the fifth Test in a series away from home before. In addition, India’s six-run victory was the closest in Test cricket history. India’s next red-ball assignment is in October, when they face the West Indies for a two-match Test series. Meanwhile, the English team will focus on the historic Ashes later in November.
