India's Mohammad Siraj (L) and Virat Kohli celebrate a wicket on day five of the third cricket Test match

Ex-Indian captain Virat Kohli spoke highly of his team after enjoying a great win in The Oval on August 4, 2025, that enabled his team to draw the five match Test series as 2-2. The match was considered to be a strong statement especially since India has defeated Australia in the previous Test largely due to a magnificent performance by Mohammed Siraj on the pitch.

Virat Kohli appreciated the effort of the pace attack that fought till the end and the role of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. There was special reference made of Siraj persistence in the series who ended up being the leading wicket-taker with 23 dismissals, something that was instrumental in the Indian successful revival.

“Great win by team india. Resilience and determination from Siraj and Prasidh has given us this phenomenal victory. Special mention to Siraj who will put everything on the line for the team. Extremely happy for him,” wrote Kohli on X.

Mohammed Siraj of India celebrates the match winning wicket of Gus Atkinson of England with teammate Dhruv Jurel on day five of the 5th Rothesay Test Match

Siraj also responded to his ODI colleague Kohli, thanking him for the personal letter that brightened his victory celebrations.

“To be honest, it feels amazing. From Day 1 everyone fought hard, and the result is there to see. Very happy. The plan was to keep it simple and hit a consistent spot. Not try too much and if I can get wickets from there it’s a bonus and build pressure. When I woke up today I had the belief that I could do it, I had the belief system. I took a photo from Google which read I can do it and put it as my wallpaper.”
