The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025’s 64th game saw the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeat the Gujarat Titans (GT), who were at the top of the table, by a margin of 33 runs. The match took place on Thursday, May 22, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. LSG’s four-match losing streak came to an end with that.
Mitchell Marsh’s outstanding performance helped the visitors team, who were put to bat first, get off to a scorching start. Sai Kishore defeated Aiden Markram after the first two combined 91 runs in 9.5 overs. However, Nicholas Pooran came roaring back to form, adding even more misery to GT. To propel LSG to 235/2, he and Marsh contributed 121 runs for the second wicket.
Marsh amassed an impressive 117 off 64 balls, and Pooran was undefeated with 56 off just 27 deliveries.

In response, all GT batters had strong starts but were unable to turn them into significant hits. They fell short by 33 runs as a result of being able to only score 202/9 in their 20 overs. Shahrukh Khan led the home team in scoring with 57 runs off of 29 balls. The best bowler was William O’Rourke, who finished with 3/27 in his four overs.
Several milestones fell throughout the high-scoring match. In light of this, we examine three significant achievements that were made tonight.
1. Nicholas Pooran smashes record for most sixes in a single season for LSG

The IPL 2025 season got off to a scorching start for the West Indian hard-hitter. Prior to seeing a significant decline in form, Nicholas Pooran hit four fifties. With another scorching half-century against GT, the left-handed batter showed that he was back to his best.
Pooran hit five sixes and four boundaries in his 56-run knock off 27 balls. That brought his total to 40 sixes, the most an LSG player has ever hit in a season. In the IPL 2024, Pooran surpassed his own record of 36 maximums.
2. Mitchell Marsh equals record for most 50+ scores in a single season for LSG

The Australian all-rounder has been in excellent batting form for the Super Giants at the top of the order. The majority of the runs have been scored by him, and his brilliant hundred against GT elevated his game even further.
Marsh has already scored six runs of fifty or more for the squad this season. Together with former captain KL Rahul, this is the joint-most by an LSG batter. With five 50+ scores, Aiden Markram, who accomplished the feat in the 2025 Indian Premier League, comes in second.
3. First brother duo to score IPL centuries

Mitchell and Shaun Marsh have both made an impact while playing in the Indian Premier League.
Shaun scored 616 runs in 11 games, including a century and five fifties, and was awarded the Orange Cap in the first season in 2008.
Mitchell, one of the top all-round players in the league at the moment, scored his first IPL hundred on Thursday night by showcasing his all-around hitting prowess. Shaun and Mitchell became the first sibling team to score hundreds in the Indian Premier League in the process.
