In Match No. 4 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Digvesh Rathi, a promising mystery spinner from Delhi, made his debut for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against the Delhi Capitals. Last year, the 25-year-old initially attracted attention with his efforts in the Delhi Premier League (DPL).
Throughout 10 matches with his hometown team Rathi secured 14 wickets at 7.82 economy rate. The cricket board chose Rathi to participate in Delhi’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024–2025 team because of his recent success. The matches against Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh resulted in Rathi securing three wickets through 2.71 runs per over while maintaining at average of 6.33.

Rathi was purchased for INR 30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction after LSG’s scouting staff saw his potential. His run-up is notably similar to that of Sunil Narine of the West Indies since he conceals the ball before to delivery, making it challenging for hitters to pick his variations. He is a great asset to LSG this season because of his quick-arm action and capacity to bowl googlies and carrom balls.
Under Ayush Badoni’s guidance, Rathi made his DPL and T20 debuts. Currently, they are playing together with LSG. LSG supporters are hoping that Rathi will have an influence in the 2025 Indian Premier League, similar to Badoni’s spectacular success in his rookie season.
When he dismissed Axar Patel, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, to take his first IPL wicket, his debut game became even more memorable. Rathi threw a googly in the sixth over of DC’s innings, luring Axar Patel to attempt a big shot. But the southpaw missed the shot and gave Nicholas Pooran a straightforward catch at square leg.
