England batsman Joe Root reached a century after resuming his overnight score of 99 not out on Day 2 of the third Test against India at Lord’s on Friday, July 11. In a flash, the right-hander reached his 37th Test century by hitting Jasprit Bumrah, the top-ranked Test bowler in the world, for a boundary off the opening delivery.
The incident occurred during the 84th over of England’s first innings. Root went for the drive after Bumrah produced a longer ball that was swinging away outside off. Beyond the gully, the ball flew off a thick edge for a boundary. Before removing his helmet, the batter let out a joyful leap and pounded the air. To commemorate the unique occasion, he gave the badge a kiss.

Joe Root Hits Century as England Lose Early Wickets on Day 2 of 3rd Test

Joe Root grabbed the honors for England, but Jasprit Bumrah scored many times to get India back into the game on Day 2 of the third Test. The speedster dismissed Chris Woakes and Root off successive deliveries after first removing English captain Ben Stokes.
At the time of writing, England were on 303/7, with Brydon Carse and J. Smith at the wicket. With four wickets, Bumrah has been the most effective bowler. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, the English openers, were dismissed by Nitish Kumar Reddy in the same over earlier on Day 1.
