Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has once again failed to regain his form. In Sunday’s IPL 2025 match against the Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, his difficulties persisted. The Super Giants lost their fourth wicket of the innings when the left-handed hitter went for a huge heave, losing both his bat and his wicket.
Azamtullah Omarzai was dismissed for his second by Shreyas Iyer in the eighth over. The keeper-batter danced down the track in an attempt to get a boundary after the seam-bowling all-rounder sent down a back-of-a-length delivery outside off-stump. But the ball went in the other direction, and Shashank Singh easily took the grab after running in from deep point.

Watch Pant get out for 18 from 17 balls in this video.
Wait… what just happened? 😲
Bat in the air, ball in the fielder’s hands… Rishabh Pant’s dismissal had it all 👌

In IPL 2025, the 27-year-old has only managed one half-century. Despite managing two ducks, he has had difficulty defending the ₹27 crore price tag at the auction. David Miller was also removed by Omarzai after he sliced it to the deep backward point. To see the South African batter’s back for eleven, the same fielder made the catch.
LSG Top-Order Collapses Early in Steep Chase Before Pant’s Entry

After the Punjab Kings amassed 236/5 in their allotted 20 overs, Arshdeep Singh destroyed their top order, leaving the Super Giants to chase down 237. In the same over, the left-arm seamer removed Aiden Markram (13) and Mitchell Marsh (0), both of whom were devastating. To severely hurt the Super Giants’ run-chase, Arshdeep came back to defeat Nicholas Pooran (6).
Rishabh Pant chose to field first when the Super Giants won the toss earlier in the evening. Only one was made by Priyansh Arya. But players like Shreyas Iyer (45), Josh Inglis (30), Prabhsimran Singh (91), and Shashank Singh (33*) were instrumental in helping Punjab to a huge total.
A win in Dharamsala could carry Punjab to second in the points table.
