The skipper of the Team India Shubman Gill had the lead in contributing and scoring a sublime century on Day 1 of the second Test on Edgbaston in Birmingham against England. The right handed batsman punched a sweep against the bowling of Joe Root and thundered in jubilation of his achievement at the hallowed ground.
The moment came in the 80th over, when England captain Ben Stokes handed the ball to Root before they took the new ball. The visiting captain took full advantage of the leg-side line as he put away the fifth delivery for a boundary after the first four went as dots. The right-hander played the identical hit as the Yorkshire player sent down a similar delivery once again, increasing his total to 102.
