On Wednesday, April 9, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will square off in Indian Premier League (IPL) match 23. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the match.
The encounter between the IPL 2022 finalists at the same location is sure to be exciting. In the 2022 season’s summit match between GT and RR in Ahmedabad, the local team won their first championship. Since the first season, RR has been waiting for their second IPL championship.
Both sides have talented players on the field, and both teams’ top-order hitters are playing well. Keeping their opposition batsmen in check will therefore be a challenge for the bowlers. Here are three player matchups to watch out for in the GT vs. RR game, though:
1. Shubman Gill vs Jofra Archer

When GT played SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), Shubman Gill displayed amazing poise. He will return to one of his favorite locations, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where he has been playing well at bat.
Jofra Archer’s IPL 2025 campaign got off to a memorable start, but he immediately recovered and has since gained the perfect kind of attention. Archer will be crucial against GT because of his ability to take wickets in the powerplay.
Gill has only scored nine runs in T20 matches total, while the Englishman has twice removed the Indian batsman in 13 deliveries over four innings.
2. Jos Buttler vs Wanindu Hasaranga

Jos Buttler, a former player for RR, will now play for GT and face the Men in Pink. Wearing the pink jersey, the Englishman had a wonderful career with RR. However, he will now face some of his old teammates, particularly the captain, who may plan an attack on him.
Wanindu Hasaranga is playing well and has established himself as an essential member of the RR team due to his ability to take wickets at critical points in the match. Samson may pick Buttler to face the Sri Lankan spinner if he plays a long game and is productive at the crease.
The former England captain has fallen victim to the Lankan once and scored 49 runs at a strike rate of 104.25 in 47 balls across five innings.
3. Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Mohammed Siraj

The youthful batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has demonstrated a range of performances in his ups and downs. However, he’s coming off a fantastic effort against Punjab, where he hit a 45-ball 67 with three fours and five sixes.
Mohammed Siraj, on the other hand, is disproving all of his detractors and letting the ball speak for itself. In GT’s last two games, he took three wickets and then four, all of which helped his team win, earning him Player of the Match awards.
In addition to spending a lot of time in the nets while playing for their country, Siraj and Jaiswal have represented India together on multiple occasions. The RR opener has 40 runs in 32 deliveries against the GT pacer because they are well-versed in their game. This match would be interesting to watch because Siraj has already removed him once in these six innings.
