Yashasvi Jaiswal scored an aggressive century in the first innings of the first Test match at Headingley, Leeds. In the fourth innings, he was batting on 97 when he lost as many as four catches, including a crucial one of Ben Duckett. In order to assist the hosts reach their 371-run total, the England opener went on to score 149 runs off 170 balls.
Yashasvi Jaiswal seemed to have put his fielding issues behind him, as he played some exciting strokes in the first session of the second Test after Stokes won the toss and chose bowl first. By playing aggressively, the Mumbai batter attacked the England bowlers and prevented them from settling. Josh Tongue, who took the most wickets in the first Test, gave up 42 runs in his six overs as a result of his initiative.

In the 22nd over, Jaiswal reached his half-century in just 59 balls. In that over, he smashed three straight boundaries off Tongue, leaving his captain and the right-arm pacer reeling from the slaughter.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Karun Nair established an 80-run partnership off 90 balls to put the tourists in a solid position after KL Rahul left cheaply. On the eve of the lunch break, Brydon Carse’s peach-sized delivery snubbed the latter. At the end of the first session, the Asian giants had reached 98/2 in 25 overs, with Yashasvi scoring 62 off 69 balls and skipper Shubman Gill (1*) at the other end.
