IPL 2025, Match 38: Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni On Sunday, April 20, during Match 38 of the ongoing IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) versus the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players were spotted wearing black armbands. The franchise has not yet released an official comment.
However, during the post-match presentation, famous anchor Harsha Bhogle disclosed the cause. In remembrance of Devon Conway’s father, Philip Conway, who tragically died at an undisclosed time not long ago, the CSK players donned the armbands. Interestingly, the Kiwi top-order batsman was absent from the just finished game.
Conway’s last game for CSK was against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk on April 11. In their road game against the Lucknow Super Giants, he did not play for the team. He was sidelined against LSG, but there was no formal explanation from the side. So far this season, Conway has pitched three innings. Interestingly, he scored 69 runs against the Punjab Kings in a defeat.
CSK post competitive total but struggle with the ball

During their contest against Mumbai Indians outside the Chennai Super Kings conceded their defeat through a wide margin of nine wickets within 26 extra deliveries. Hardik Pandya’s decision to bat first became the reason the Men in Yellow took the crease before Mumbai Indians. Chennai Super Kings reached a respectable total when Shivam Dube scored 50 off 32 balls and Ravindra Jadeja remained not out at 53 from 35 deliveries. Player Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets while giving away twenty-five runs in his four overs of play followed by Mitchell Santner claiming one wicket with just fourteen runs conceded from his three overs.
Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav Power MI to Commanding Win in IPL 2025

Ryan Rickelton stood alone as the only batter eliminated during the run chase in the second innings. The youthful debutant Ayush Mhatre marked the end of the wicketkeeper-batter after securing the dismissal at deep midwicket. Mhatre became the 17-year-old IPL debutant before he had caught a ball at that outfield position. Rohit Sharma (76* off 45) along with Suryakumar Yadav (68* off 30) performed flawlessly throughout their efforts to cross the 192-run total established by CSK during that evening.
