Jos Buttler plays it late, Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans Match

On Monday, April 21, the 39th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will take place at Eden Gardens. So far, both teams’ IPL 2025 campaigns have been somewhat different.

Contents
1. Shubman Gill vs Sunil Narine2. Quinton de Kock vs Mohammed Siraj3. Jos Buttler vs Varun Chakravarthy

In the lucrative league this year, KKR has been hot and cold. With just three victories in seven games, the defending champions are now sixth in the standings. They have an NRR of +0.547, which gives them six points.

On April 19, GT defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, moving them up to the top of the table. Though they presently have the same 10 points from seven games as Delhi, the Titans have a higher NRR of +0.984.

There is a chance for some intriguing matches because both teams have a few talented players in their ranks. In light of this, we examine three intriguing player clashes to be aware of.

1. Shubman Gill vs Sunil Narine

Shubman Gill tCelebrate his half-century in IPL 2025

The GT captain has had an ordinary season in IPL 2025, with only two 50+ scores in seven games. Despite starting a few games, Shubman Gill has not been able to turn them into significant knocks.

Gill will try to go back to his best against KKR, but Sunil Narine will be a tough opponent. Given the West Indian’s stellar record against the Gujarat opener, expect KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane to throw the ball to Narine. Narine has dismissed Gill twice while giving up just 13 runs off 12 deliveries.

2. Quinton de Kock vs Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj roars after getting Wicket

In IPL 2025, the KKR batsman-wicketkeeper has been a ghost of his former self, scoring just one fifty or more in seven games. Kolkata has suffered, mostly as a result of their openers’ subpar performance.

When De Kock faces Mohammed Siraj of GT, who has dismissed him twice in 33 T20 deliveries, his problems can become worse.

With 11 wickets in seven games this year, the star Indian quick has looked to be in outstanding form and will want to maintain it.

3. Jos Buttler vs Varun Chakravarthy

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Varun Chakravarthy (R) bowls during the Indian Premier League

The GT wicketkeeper-batsman has been in outstanding form, striking a match-winning 97* against the Delhi Capitals. Jos Buttler must be fired cheaply by KKR in order to stay in the match.

Varun Chakravarthy might be used by Rahane to break down the former England captain. In 49 deliveries in the shortest format, the mystery spinner has removed Buttler five times. This could therefore be the duel that determines the match’s result.
