The IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) took place on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The team captained by Rajat Patidar ended their 18-year title drought with a six-run triumph in the top match.
RCB scored 190/9 in 20 overs after being allowed to bat first. Despite using 35 balls, Virat Kohli’s 43 runs came at a strike rate of 122.86.
Liam Livingstone (25 off 15), Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10), and Rajat Patidar (26 off 16) all contributed with insightful cameos. For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson both took three wickets.

Shashank Singh was PBKS’ top batsman, remaining undefeated on 61 runs off 30 balls. Josh Inglis also performed admirably, scoring 39 runs in 23 deliveries.
However, it was insufficient to send PBKS home, as they concluded on 184/7 after 20 overs. Krunal Pandya was the standout bowler, with stats of 4-0-17-2.
Krunal also became first player to rule Player of the Match on two occasions in IPL finals as he won this award for his superb bowling efforts.
The final clash proved to be a thrilling experience with many memorable moments. Here, we’ll look at three such situations that created buzz among fans:
1. Virat Kohli tears up in the last over, with RCB on the cusp of maiden IPL triumph

RCB had finally managed to add the silverware that had eluded them for 18 years by winning the IPL 2025. But they previously finished as runners up in 2009, 2011 and 2016.
All four IPL finals that RCB has played so far have seen Virat Kohli involved and he certainly appeared emotional while seeing the defeat unfold in the final minutes of the contest.
PBKS needed 29 runs from the final six balls. After Josh Hazlewood opened the crucial over with a couple of dot balls to seal the game for his team, Kohli was spotted holding back tears while fielding at the boundary.
The tears say it all 🥹
An 1️⃣8️⃣-year wait comes to an end 👏

2. Phil Salt takes astonishing boundary catch to end Priyansh Arya’s promising knock

PBKS opener Priyansh Arya got a decent start scoring 24 off 19 with four boundaries. Phil Salt’s brilliance in the field ended his stay at the creased.
The last delivery of the fifth over was a short pitched delivery from Hazlewood, on which Arya played the flick shot. He had done it perfectly and for a moment it looked as though the ball had cleared the ropes.
However, Salt made a stunning catch at deep backward square leg. Here’s a video of the incredible grab:

3. Jitesh Sharma brings out unorthodox shot from his repertoire to counter Kyle Jamieson’s short ball

Jitesh Sharma, the RCB wicketkeeper, astonished the spectators with a fast 24-run knock in 10 balls. He kept fans delighted by making some incredible shots, including a daring scoop against Kyle Jamieson’s short ball.
The tall pacer hit it short with the first delivery of the 16th over. Jitesh responded with a spectacular scoop shot that flew over the keeper’s head for a goal.
The bold stroke can be seen in the video below:
