The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets in the last league match of IPL 2025 on Tuesday, May 28. The match was held at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium. Consequently, with 19 points from 14 games, RCB secured the second position in the points standings.
LSG built an impressive 227/3 in 20 overs after being chosen to bat first, helped by a spectacular century from captain Rishabh Pant. With a knock of 118* (61) in his team’s season-ending match, the southpaw finally found his form again, displaying his full ability. To help Pant in the batting department, Mitchell Marsh (67) maintained his excellent form by hitting another aggressive half-century.
Virat Kohli (54) and Philip Salt (30) opened with 61 runs in 5.4 overs, giving their team a solid foundation in the difficult chase. After that, LSG returned by lowering RCB to 123/4. Assuming responsibility, captain Jitesh Sharma produced an incredible 85* (33). Alongside Mayank Agarwal (41*), he assisted in driving his team home in the chase to 230/4 in just 18.4 overs.

At the post-match presentation, RCB stand-in skipper Jitesh Sharma remarked on his batting performance during the successful chase, saying:
“I can’t express the thoughts, I can’t believe that I managed to play the innings. All I was trying was to see the ball..When Virat BHAI departed, I tried to take the game deep as my guru Dinesh Karthik always tells me to take the game deep. I was having cramps due to the extra load but I am enjoying the responsibility with Virat bhai, Krunal bhai and Bhuvi bhai around and I am enjoying it.”
