A fan faced the wrath of Kolkata Police after attempting to reach the pitch to see Shah Rukh Khan following the IPL 2025 opening between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday, March 22. It happened at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, where the confrontation took place.
Shah Rukh Khan, a co-owner of KKR, walked around the field after the game and thanked the supporters. To meet the Bollywood star, a fan in the stadium scaled the high fence. Police seized him by the collar and choked him before yelling in his ear, bringing him down instantly. It’s interesting that it happened after another fan managed to get past security to meet Virat Kohli during his innings.

KKR Secure First IPL 2025 Win With Commanding 8-Wicket Victory Over RR

The second match of IPL 2023 saw KKR step up to play against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 26 after losing their opening contest. The two-paced ground at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati made RR face an unsuccessful first innings with their score settling at 151 for nine. The KKR spinners dominated the match while Dhruv Jurel struck 33 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 29 runs and Riyan Parag managed 25 runs.
The visitors easily chased down the mark in 17.3 overs, thanks to opener Quinton de Kock’s brilliant knock of 97* (61). He won the Player of the Match award. De Kock offered the following analysis on KKR’s victory during the post-match presentation:
“Nice to get out here and make the opportunity count, win it for the boys. I haven’t felt any challenges yet, I had three months off around Christmas. Coming back into cricket, lucky we had 10 days off camp. Couple of warm-up matches made it pretty easy to get out here and play the game.”

Quinton de Kock added:
“It’s only my second game here. I take it as I see it. Luckily we batted second, as a keeper I got to watch the wicket, see how the ball’s behaving and adjust when I walked out to bat. I played the situation, the IPL’s known for big scores. Needed to get out there and win the game instead.”

On Monday, March 31, KKR and the Mumbai Indians (MI) will square off in their third IPL 2025 encounter in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
