Virat Kohli in IPL 2024

Virat Kohli stands as one of the best players in the history of IPL. Kohli has delivered numerous outstanding knockouts which have guided Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to dominant victory wins. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stands as the team against which Virat Kohli displays his most consistent high-level performance. Whatever stadium he plays in Kohli delivers outstanding batting performances which breaks the opposition bowlers of KKR.

Here are three of his best IPL batting performances against KKR, where he demonstrated why he is one of the best.

1. 100 Off 58 Balls at Eden Gardens (IPL 2019)

Virat Kohli had one of his best T20 knocks in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He hit an incredible century off 58 balls to start the RCB batting. Nine fours and four sixes made up his 100-run knock.

Kohli played carefully at first to make sure he established a strong base for the innings. But as he calmed down, he launched forceful shots onto the field from all directions. He adjusted well to the pitch’s circumstances and targeted the appropriate bowlers.

Since RCB was struggling in the tournament, this century was extremely important to them. Kohli’s performance gave his team confidence during a difficult time and helped them reach a massive total.

2. 84 Off 49 Balls at M. Chinnaswamy (IPL 2019)

Virat Kohli Furious vs KKR

Kohli again produced another outstanding century against KKR during the 2019 season, this time at RCB’s home ground in Bengaluru. He once again showed his class by scoring 84 runs off of 49 balls.

Kohli maintained composure and played good cricket against a strong KKR bowling lineup. With aggressive running between the wickets, he continued to score runs, hitting nine fours and two sixes. His partnership with AB de Villiers was one of the innings’ high points. It was difficult for the KKR bowlers to get their act together because of the strong partnership formed by their two mainstays.

Even though he didn’t reach a century, this innings was still quite important. It demonstrated Kohli’s versatility and ability to play according to the team’s needs in every circumstance.

3. 83* Off 59 Balls at M. Chinnaswamy (IPL 2024)

Virat Kohli Play shoot

Kohli proved his skill again during the IPL 2024 match versus KKR at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli batted through to 83 undefeated runs from 59 deliveries at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The approach during this inning differed from his aggressive traditional batting style because he focused exclusively on strategic playbook alongside patient innings. The KKR bowlers delivered top quality bowling so Kohli adopted a strategic approach for his grand hitting opportunities. The right approach to swinging his bat yielded eight boundaries combined with eight massive hits during his innings.

The clearest example of Kohli’s understanding of the game and ability to adapt his play to the scenario was this innings. His ability to strike a balance between attack and defense allowed RCB to keep the game under control the entire time.

Conclusion

KKR bowlers have never found Kohli to be an easy target. He is one of the most feared batters in the IPL because of his timing, consistency, and versatility. The fans will always remember these three innings as some of his best performances, but they are just a handful of his brilliant moments against KKR.
