India KL Rahul scored his 19th first-class century on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test against the England Lions. The game will take place on Friday, June 6, at Northampton’s County Ground.
The 33-year-old started conservatively, scoring only eight runs in his first 25 deliveries. He settled in and found his rhythm, scoring 50 off 102 balls. The right-hander then accelerated his scoring rate, achieving his century in 151 balls with a single.

KL Rahul went on to smash 116 runs from 168 balls, including 15 fours and a maximum. His dismissal left India A on 252/5 after 61.2 overs.
Meanwhile, before this encounter, the Karnataka hitter had played 104 first-class games, scoring 7,331 runs at an average of 42.62, including 36 fifties and 18 hundreds.

The England Lions captain, James Rew, won the toss and chose to field first. India A’s opening combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul put established a steady 28-run partnership from 41 balls before Chris Woakes terminated the partnership by trapping the latter lbw for 17, including two boundaries.
India Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran had a dismal performance, losing for 11 off 13 balls. Rahul then teamed up with Karun Nair, and the two put on a good 86-run stand off 139 balls for the third wicket. Nair scored 40 runs off 71 balls, including four boundaries, before being Woakes’ third victim of the day.

Dhruv Jurel joined the match at No. 6 and teamed up well with Rahul once again. They teamed up to score 121 runs, with Jurel making 52 off 87 balls and hitting seven fours, before he was caught. Rahul broke the 1,000-run mark in first-class games as he scored 116 before getting dismissed and India A were at 252/5 at the end of that stand.
India’s A team scored 253/5 after 62 overs, with Nitish Reddy not out on zero and Shardul Thakur on one run.
