Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Virat Kohli gestures during the Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 final cricket match

A Bengaluru-based activist has approached local police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting talisman Virat Kohli. According to News18, the guy who approached the Cubbon Park Police Station was HM Venkatesh, a social activist.

He demanded that the 36-year-old batter be named the primary suspect in the stampede that occurred outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, June 4. The incident occurred amid RCB’s celebrations after winning their first IPL title the day before.

The police reportedly informed the activist that a FIR had already been filed in the case, but they assured him that his letter will be reviewed.

An FIR was filed against the RCB and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) administrative committee for the rush at the venue. The activist’s request for a FIR against Virat Kohli comes after the franchise’s head of marketing and revenue, Nikhil Sosale, and two employees of the event management business DNA Entertainment Network were arrested by Bengaluru police.

On Wednesday, a stampede outside RCB’s home venue killed up to 11 people. On Thursday, the franchise announced a Rs 10 lakh settlement for each of the deceased’s families, as well as the creation of a foundation dubbed ‘RCB Cares.’
