On Friday, May 9, players from the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) left Dharamsala in a number of vehicles. Due to a floodlight failure on Thursday, the two teams’ IPL 2025 match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium was called off in the middle of play.
As the players and support personnel departed Dharamsala under strict security due to the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, escort vehicles were included in the convoy. Below is a video showing the two sides departing from the hill station:

PBKS and DC’s match was called off after 10.1 overs. The Punjab-based team chose to bat first and was at 122/1 when the match was called off. By releasing an official statement, the BCCI clarified the development.

As reported by ESPNcricinfo, the statement said:
“Due to a power outage in the area, one of the light towers at the HPCA stadium malfunctioned. BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees.”
PBKS openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh scored half-century partners before the flood lights failure. Arya went for 70 runs off only 34 deliveries but Prabhsimran set alight with 50 not out in 28 before his dismissal.
BCCI Vice-President Confirms Special Train for Evacuation After PBKS vs DC IPL 2025 Match Is Called Off

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla announced that the board would arrange a special train from Dharamsala for the players and officials following the midway cancellation of the PBKS vs. DC match.
Shukla told The Times of India that the BCCI’s first focus is still the players’ safety.
“We are organising a special train to bring everybody home safely. As of now the match has been called off and the stadium has been evacuated. We will take a call on the tournament’s future depending on the situation tomorrow. As of now, players’ safety is utmost important.”

It is worth mentioning as well that the current IPL 2025 apparently has been put on hold indefinitely due to the increasingly tense military situation between India and Pakistan.
