In Match 25 of the 2025 Indian Premier League, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced off in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, April 11. With their largest loss in terms of balls left to spare, the hosts CSK lost by eight wickets without a fight.
KKR won the toss and selected to start the innings. Prices Sporting Club faced difficulties to accelerate their run scoring during the match because their initial batsmen showed slow scoring performance. Shivam Dube scored 31 runs against no dismissal while Vijay Shankar scored his 29 runs in twenty-one balls.
The frequent collapse of wickets occurred because Kolkata bowlers unleashed an unstoppable rampage. The outstanding bowler of the match turned out to be Sunil Narine who finished with numbers of 4-0-13-3. The duo of Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana guided Punjab Kings to a nine-wicket victory through their collective hunt of four wickets which pushed Chennai Super Kings to the score of 103/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Narine scored 44 runs off of just 18 balls, demonstrating her exceptional batting skills. The visitors secured a complete victory after chasing the small goal in just 10.1 overs. For the home team, Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad each took one scalp.
In terms of points, CSK is sluggishly occupying ninth place. Out of six games, the five-time winners have only managed one victory. In the meantime, KKR moved up to third position following their third victory in six games.
Here, we examine three incidents from the game that caused fans to talk.
1. MS Dhoni Declared LBW by Third Umpire Despite Clear Spike on UltraEdge

MS Dhoni, the captain of CSK, was cheaply removed during the match. The seasoned batsman was dismissed by Sunil Narine after just managing one run off of four balls. But on social media, the dismissal caused a stir.
While attempting to steer the ball to the leg side, Dhoni was beaten. Chris Gaffaney, the on-field umpire, called it LBW after he was struck on the pads. The 43-year-old chose the DRS, implying that there was an inside advantage.
When the umpire has to prove DRS means Decision Review System and not Dhoni Review System, then he made decisions like this😢😢#MSDhoni pic.twitter.com/clLBJdEdXG

The UltraEdge displayed a slight spike, but Vinod Seshan, the third umpire, reviewed several replays before determining that the ball had not struck the ball. He then requested that the umpire stick with the first out call.
2. Sunil Narine shines with stunning all-round show

Sunil Narine delivered an outstanding spell for KKR as he dismissed three key players during the match. During their innings the mystery spinner managed to remove Rahul Tripathi, Ravindra Jadeja followed by MS Dhoni. During the match the cricket world not only benefited from his skillful bowling but also enjoyed his impressive power hitting.
The first batter from the opening partnership delivered aggressive batting performance during the initial powerplay overs. Narine hit five home runs along with two boundary shots before his dismissal and finished with 44 runs at a strike rate of 244.44.

3. Varun Chakaravarthy takes a fantastic running catch to dismiss Noor Ahmad

He ended up getting a top edge because he couldn’t make the connection. Chakaravarthy, who was positioned at short fine leg, dashed to his left and made a spectacular diving catch.
