AB de Villiers, a former South Africa captain even likened those who criticize Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to cockroaches. He was unable to comprehend why people began to question the power of famous cricketers when they were nearing the end of their careers.
Seven months later, Kohli and Rohit went back into the international cricket with a three match series against Australia. The Delhi slugger did not make any points in the first two ODIs but made 74 out of 81 balls in the third game. Rohit, however, became the Player of the Series having scored 50 in the second and 100 in the third ODIs.

“I don’t what it is about people. I don’t know if I can call them people. Cockroaches climbling out of their holes as soon as players get towards the backend of their careers. Why? Why do you want to pour negative energy into players that have given their lives for their country and this beautiful game of cricket. This is the perfect time to celebrate them,” said De Villiers.
‘A fantastic time to celebrate them’ – AB de Villiers praises Rohit and Virat

As De Villiers stated, Rohit and Kohli had been criticized a great deal in recent seasons. Nevertheless, he thinks he is not alone with the critics. The former cricketer-turned-expert requested everyone to value the careers of the two former Indian captains instead of dwelling on their shortcomings.
“They have taken a lot of criticism in the last few months. Everyone is just trying to push them down for what reason I have no idea. Obviously, I am referreing to the minority becase I think the majority of people celebrate Rohit and Virat and their incredible careers. And it is a fantastic time to celebrate them once again,” said De Villiers.

Rohit and Kohli are scheduled to return to action in the three-match ODI series at home against South Africa, which begins on November 30.
