KL Rahul hit a six off Kyle Jamieson to reach his century in India’s second ODI against New Zealand in Rajkot on Wednesday, January 14. The wicketkeeper-batsman required only 87 balls to reach his eighth ODI century, his second against New Zealand. He finished unbeaten on 112 from 92 deliveries, with a strike rate of 121.74, including the aforementioned six and 11 fours.
Rahul reached the century mark off the final delivery of India’s 49th over. Jamieson delivered a full toss, and Rahul took advantage of it. The 33-year-old cleared his front leg before belting it over long-on for a maximum.

The middle-order batsman first formed a critical 73-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja before remaining until the end. He also produced an undefeated 29 runs, including a match-winning six, to enable India complete a 301-run chase against the Kiwis and win by four wickets in the first one-day international.
India set 285-run target vs New Zealand after KL Rahul’s brilliant hundred

KL Rahul stood tall as India scored 284/7 in the second one-day international against New Zealand. Aside from Rahul, skipper Shubman Gill scored 56 off 53 balls. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed in their twenties.
Kristian Clarke was the tourists’ best bowler, recording figures of 3/56 despite bowling just eight overs. Kyle Jamieson, Zak Foulkes, skipper Michael Bracewell, and debutant Jayden Lennox each took one wicket.

New Zealand kept the three-match series alive with a crucial victory in the second ODI, denying India the chance to seal back-to-back series wins following their 2-1 triumph over South Africa in December last year. The result also ended India’s perfect record of winning every ODI series against New Zealand at home, adding further intrigue to the contest. With the series now level, the third and final ODI between the two sides will be played on Sunday, January 18, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, where both teams will battle for the series decider.
