India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, refused to respond to media questions about Pakistan’s infamous boycott threat as he went for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, sending a clear statement that his emphasis remains exclusively on cricket in the face of controversy.
The Pakistan government has confirmed that it will go to the T20 World Cup but not play archrivals India in their much-anticipated Group A match on February 15 in Colombo.

When quizzed about the aftermath, the former India opener did not respond to any of it and kept walking past reporters just waving them.

Confusion has reigned in the cricketing world after Pakistan pulled out of their marquee clash against India without citing a proper reason. The Pakistan Cricket Board has been bitten badly by the International Cricket Council.
India’s T20 World Cup starts February 7 against United States at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It will be Gambhir’s second ICC assignment as coach of India, after they won the Champions Trophy in 2025.
‘Was ICC sleeping?’ – Kamran Akmal’s strong response to ICC

Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has attacked the International Cricket Council (ICC), while supporting Pakistan’s decision to boycott the match against India, citing the 2025 Asian Cup.
“PCB should not back down! The ICC has told the Pakistan Cricket Board to reconsider its stance of boycotting the India game. Was ICC sleeping when the Asia Cup happened in the hybrid model? Was ICC sleeping when India said it would not play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and only play on a neutral venue? How many times has Pakistan played in India, despite the heightened tensions between the two countries. I have gone myself,” Akmal said on his YouTube channel.

India and Pakistan faced off three times in the Asia Cup 2025, with the Men in Blue winning each time.
