Nepal may have fallen short against England in their T20 World Cup 2026 match on February 8 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, but they earned significant praise for their fighting attitude on and off the field. While the dramatic game came down to the wire, it was a sweet moment following the match that truly captivated the attention of people all over the world.
One of the video clips that spread on social media is of a Nepal fan who remained in the stadium after the match to collect the rubbish left by the crowd. When the greater part of the crowd walked out of the stadium, the fan decided to clean up the surroundings by picking trash which was littered across the seats and aisles.

It was a gesture of kindness which was not a fabricated gesture but rather an act of duty and it helped the cleaning crew in the Wankhede Stadium. The video immediately became viral, and netizens showed their affection in the form of comments. Numerous individuals applauded the civic pride and modesty of the fan, and insisted on his efforts as inspirational and a wake-up call to the simple duty in society.

— Jara (@JARA_Memer) February 10, 2026 At the field, Nepal played a heroic match in the opening of the tournament. England, who batted first, did not have a brilliant start as Sher Malla bowled off Phil Salt in the second over. But half-centuries by Jacob Bethell (55) and skipper Harry Brook (53) were some of those which stabilised the innings. The two contributed a significant 71-run partnership on only 45 balls to the third wicket, which saw England score a competitive 184 runs in 20 overs.

In reply Nepal displayed amazing strength. The third wicket partnership of 82 run on 54 balls by Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airee led the chase. The best moment in this came later when Lokesh Bam delivered a wonderful cameo hitting 39 out of a possible 20 balls without defeat to bring Nepal to the verge of a historic victory. Nevertheless, Sam Curran kept his head together during the last over and managed to block the goal when Nepal had to lose the match by four runs.
Now Nepal will emphasize regarding their second group-stage match against Italy, scheduled on February 12, 2026, at the Wankhede stadium, in an effort to carry on their good performance.
