In Match 12 of the 2026 Indian Premier League, Rain spoiled the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Eden Gardens.
KKR started on a score of 25/2 in 3.2 overs after deciding to start with the bat before the rain halted the game. Xavier Bartlett of Punjab was able to get in the wickets of Finn Allen and Cameron Green in the brief period both of them were victims of precise bowling by the Aussie quick.
Beyond the play on the field, there is a viral video of KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan in a heated exchange with franchise CEO Venky Mysore, as the match was called off. Although the agenda of the discussion was not disclosed, it was speculated by many that it might be the result of the troubles that KKR was going through.

— Aman.pb🚀 (@Aman06072302) April 6, 2026 KKR began the season with a bad start, and they have losses of up to 2 games in the first two games. Since they spent a lot of money on Cameron Green and Matheesa Pathirana during auction, their team has received the blow of injuries and the issues related to their unavailability.
KKR Struggle On and Off the Field Ahead of LSG Clash

The bowling performance at the Wankhede Stadium was poor and Mumbai Indians easily chased down 221. This was preceded by a 65-run loss at home in a match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad who bowled them out with 161 defending 227. More criticism was seen when Rahane decided to bat when they won the toss against Punjab Kings in an overcast condition.
KKR have been experiencing issues off the field too. Bangladesh fast-bowler Mustafizur Rahman was forced to leave the IPL by a compulsory BCCI directive and his departure was preceded by the injury of star Indian quicks Harshit Rana and Akash Deep with both declared out of the season. Moreover, Pathirana is pending Sri Lankan fitness clearance and the franchise has been in a dispute on the bowling of Cameron Green who is still recovering the lower back problem.

KKR will play the Lucknow Super Giants on April 9 at the Eden Gardens since they are hoping to start their season with a win.
