A few noteworthy events have occurred in the run-up to the eighteenth season of the lucrative tournament, which is the IPL 2025. The case of Harry Brook, who left the league for personal reasons, is the main topic of conversation. Brook stated that he took the deliberate choice to remove his name from the Delhi Capitals’ roster because he wants to focus on playing for England.

1. Pravin Tambe (2020)2. Harbhajan Singh (2008)3. Ravindra Jadeja (2010)

In light of the most recent regulation proposed by the IPL General Committee prior to the Mega Auction in November, the English batter was subsequently prohibited from participating in the IPL for the following two editions. Brook is now the first player from England to be barred from playing in the Indian Premier League. However, have any Indian athletes been banned for reasons other than match-fixing or unethical behavior? Let’s talk about:

3 Indian cricketers who were banned from IPL for non-fixing allegations:

1. Pravin Tambe (2020)

Pravin Tambe is pumped up after taking the big wicket of AB de Villiers

Pravin Tambe still retains the record for being the oldest player to make an IPL debut, and his narrative of making his debut with the Rajasthan Royals at age 41 is incredibly motivating. He grabbed 28 wickets at an average of 30.26 in 33 games, but his 2014 hat-trick against the Kolkata Knight Riders stands out. In the Champions League T20, he also took the most wickets for them. But his journey ended in a somewhat unsatisfactory manner.

The cricket career of Pravin Tambe started with Rajasthan followed by Gujarat Lions before he joined KKR in 2020 but he failed to notify either BCCI or IPL office leads about playing in the Caribbean Premier League. The policies for Indian cricketers playing in the league stated that he should not have appeared in the Abu Dhabi T10 league since he provided no advance notice. Because of this situation Tambe received permanent exclusion from participating in IPL matches.

2. Harbhajan Singh (2008)

Unquestionably, one of the most renowned spinners in Indian cricket, Harbhajan Singh has also had a respectably successful IPL career. However, the 2008 season was not one of his greatest since, following the notorious slap gate incident involving S Sreesanth during a game between the Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), he was immediately suspended for the remainder of the season. The off-spinner would prefer not to recall this on-field altercation.

The year 2008 did not stop Harbhajan from achieving great bowling numbers as he finished with 150 wickets during his 163-game career. The cricket star has achieved four IPL title victories among which he claimed both Chennai Super Kings (2018) and Mumbai Indians (2013, 2015, 2017). Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth together played multiple games for India before helping their Men in Blue team win the 2011 World Cup. Since their disputes were settled the cricket athletes now maintain friendly relationships.

3. Ravindra Jadeja (2010)

Ravindra Jadeja helped the Rajasthan Royals achieve their first IPL title shortly after India won the Under-19 World Cup in 2008 when he joined the team. The league imposed an active playing ban on him during 2010 but he played for the team again in the following season without official participation. The Saurashtra all-rounder entered into a contract with Mumbai Indians without notifying RR thus creating a violation of their established deal.

The first CSK championship victory in 2010 threatened to ban Jadeja after he failed to obtain proper approval (NOC) from RR before switching teams. When Chennai Super Kings recruited him in 2012 the cricket player had previously represented the extinct Kochi Tuskers Kerala during 2011. With the exception of the 2016 and 2017 seasons when he played for the Gujarat Lions Jadeja has established himself as a vital player for CSK while leading some of their matches during the 2023 season.
