The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) appointed their legendary former speedster Zaheer Khan as their mentor during the previous season. During the 18th series of the Indian Premier League (IPL) he aims to steer the team led by Rishabh Pant toward playoff success.
The IPL 2022 marked the beginning of Lucknow’s adventure. In their first two seasons, they made it to the playoffs. But last year, they came in at number seven. At their home stadium, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow, the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team has had remarkable fan support. However, the majority of the fans in their matches versus the Chennai Super Kings have been dressed in yellow jerseys.
During a news conference, the LSG mentor was questioned if the pattern of visiting teams, especially the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, garnering a lot of support at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium would alter in the 2025 Indian Premier League. Zaheer said that because of MS Dhoni’s great popularity, he won’t be shocked to see yellow shirts controlling the crowd when Lucknow hosts CSK on April 14.
“As long as MS Dhoni is around, yellow will dominate all the stadiums. It should be like that. He is loved by everyone. As long as he is playing, it will be like that.”

MS Dhoni is expected to play again in the 2025 Indian Premier League despite rumors that he is retiring. The Men in Yellow’s season begins on Sunday, March 23, when they play the Mumbai Indians, their bitter rivals, in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
“We Know How To Win Matches” – Zaheer Khan Confident About IPL 2025

Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan are expected to miss the Super Giants’ opening IPL 2025 games due to injuries. Shivam Mavi and Shardul Thakur, on the other hand, are allegedly training with the team and are available as substitutes if necessary.
Zaheer stated that the team’s hopes for a successful season under a new captain will not be dampened by the injury setbacks.
“When you talk about the IPL, you know that uncertainties like these can arise. LSG’s support staff is working with the pacers accordingly, and we have plans in place for the season. We have 24 players in the squad, and we know how to win matches.”
