In match 19 of the 2025 Indian Premier League, the Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by a commanding seven wickets on Sunday, April 6, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Consequently, SRH stayed at the bottom of the points table, while the 2022 IPL champions shot up to the second spot.
Following yet another poor performance from their batting unit, SRH was assigned to bat first but was only able to reach 152 for eight in 20 overs. With a calm knock of 31 (34), Nitish Kumar Reddy led the hosts in scoring. Pat Cummins, the captain, ended the innings with a powerful cameo of 22* (9) in the final overs. With four wickets taken, Mohammed Siraj was GT’s standout bowler.
The SRH bowlers gave their supporters hope for victory by reducing GT to 16/2 in 3.5 overs. But the Titans moved into the driver’s position in the chase when Washington Sundar (49), who started at number four, produced a breezy knock. Shubman Gill (61) led his team over the finish line in 16.4 overs by playing the anchor role at the other end flawlessly. In order to swiftly end the game, Sherfane Rutherford also contributed with a cameo of 35 (16).

Mohammed Siraj Credits Hard Work for POTM Performance in GT vs SRH IPL 2025

Mohammed Siraj’s outstanding performance in the first innings earned him the Player of the Match award at the post-match ceremony. The GT pacer reflected on his impressive recovery after being left off of the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy:
“When you come to your homeground with your friends and family watching, it is a special feeling. I have played there for seven years; there have been a lot of ups and downs at that venue. I have worked on my fitness and mentality during the break, staying in the present, and that is helping me.”

Siraj continued:
“I couldn’t digest it, but then I explained to myself that things would change. I worked on my mistakes and realised them. So I am enjoying it now. As a professional, when you are with the side, there is doubt when you aren’t selected, but then I thought to move on from that and do well with the ball. When you are able to execute what you want to do, there is a different feeling as a bowler, and it is a lot of fun.”
