On April 7, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli joked with Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah during their IPL 2025 match at the Wankhede Stadium. A stunning maximum from Bumrah was the first strike in a much-anticipated match between two of the greatest cricketers of the generation.
But in the pacer’s second over, the two had a lighthearted altercation in which Kohli punched Bumrah in jest. Before the shoulder shove between the two, the pacer ridiculed a toss at Kohli’s end after RCB captain Rajat Patidar contested a delivery from Bumrah.
This is a video of the amusing exchange between Bumrah and Kohli:

During his 42-ball inning Kohli scored 67 runs by hitting eight boundaries while clearing the boundary six times. His IPL 2025 season achieved its second half-century while becoming the first batsman to acquire fifty runs after his 59* during RCB’s match against KKR.
Since the last Test of the 2024–25 Border Gavaskar Trophy in January, Bumrah has been sidelined due to a back issue. After missing the season’s first four MI games, he was eventually cleared to play and was added back into the starting lineup for the current match versus RCB.
Virat Kohli’s Brilliant Performance Powers RCB to Huge Total Against MI

In the first half of the match, the much awaited RCB vs. MI match has lived up to the hype. Virat Kohli and Devdutt went for leather with a 91-run second-wicket stand off only 52 deliveries, even though they lost Phil Salt in the opening over.
Skipper Patidar subsequently took matters into his own hands, scoring a magnificent half-century off 25 deliveries. His assault enabled RCB to end at 221/5 in their 20 overs, surpassing the 200-run milestone.
The Mumbai Indian team requires a victory to re-start their season following their three consecutive match losses. This contest marks RCB’s third game which they won while maintaining two victories from their first three matches leading to their attempt at ending their Mumbai loss streak dating back to 2015.
