The Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow will host the match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 14. Having dropped five straight games in the IPL 2025 season, CSK has been having trouble. In the first game, they defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI), which has been their lone victory thus far.
CSK captain MS Dhoni, who took over as captain in the last game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined for the tournament owing to an elbow injury, thanked the supporters after the toss. The Indian tradition was that, in light of the potential for dew later in the game, CSK would bowl first.

The top six batsmen have been erratic throughout the tournament, the former Indian cricket player admitted. He underlined the significance of taking huge chances and keeping a positive outlook going forward.
“Well blessed, we get good support. Thank you all the fans. We want to bowl first, there’s chances of dew here. The wicket gets better. It’s important to set the right temperament. We haven’t been consistent with our batting. Our top six have been a problem. With the ball we have a strong back. It’s important to have a positive mindset, play those big shots. It’s a matter of time.”

CSK made two changes to their playing XI for the match against LSG. Devon Conway was replaced by Shaik Rasheed, while Ravichandran Ashwin was replaced by Jamie Overton. Conversely, LSG added Mitchell Marsh to their roster.

CSK kept their playoff hopes alive with a crucial win over LSG, rising to the occasion when it mattered most. In a high-stakes clash, the Yellow Army delivered under pressure, and MS Dhoni turned back the clock with a vintage performance that earned him the Player of the Match award.
