In their second match of the ongoing IPL 2025, the Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a double. At Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, the two teams faced off in the tournament’s 40th game.
LSG reached only 159/6 runs when they batted first while Mukesh Kumar claimed four wickets during their twenty overs. Throughout this season Rishabh Pant and Co. only scored fewer runs than the 159/6 total created in this match.
The opening batsman Karun Nair got out with just 15 runs after facing nine balls in the first powerplay period. Throughout the innings Abhishek Porel along with KL Rahul maintained stability while Porel scored his debut half-century of 2022 season.
KL Rahul produced an impressive knock after DC captain Axar Patel took over after Porel was dismissed in the 12th over, moving the scorecard along. The pair helped their team cross the finish line with an eight-wicket victory after sharing an undefeated 56-run partnership in 36 deliveries.
1. Mitchell Marsh completed 1000 runs in IPL

LSG opener Mitch Marsh got his side out to a fast start, as he has in virtually every game this season, and continued to pile up runs. He was 36 runs short from reaching a personal IPL career milestone prior to the match.
With a 45 from 36 balls against DC, Marsh reached 1000 IPL runs. Despite hitting a maximum and three fours during his innings, his strike rate was below average. In the fourteenth over, Mukesh Kumar got rid of the Australian.
2. Axar Patel completes 150 T20 sixes

During DC’s match Axar Patel could not get any wickets while giving away 29 runs in his four-over opening spell. He used his batting abilities to score an impressive inning which earned his team victory despite an unproductive start with the ball.
Axar finished his run with 34 runs from his 20 ball innings. The bowler hit one four and four sixes during his batting run at 170 runs per over.
3. KL Rahul becomes fastest cricketer to complete 5000 runs in IPL

KL Rahul scored 57* runs with 42 balls for DC against LSG in a game serving as a personal milestone to his IPL career. Rahul completed his milestone of 5000 IPL runs just before the match started because he needed 51 more runs for completion.
