In the 44th Indian Premier League (IPL) game, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will meet the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens on Saturday, April 26. So far, the two teams’ seasons in this year’s lucrative league have been very different.
KKR has only won three of their eight IPL 2025 games, demonstrating their inability to play deceit. With an NRR of +0.212, they are in seventh place in the standings and have six points.
PBKS, on the other side, has five victories out of eight games, 10 points, and an NRR of +0.177, now ranking fifth in the standings. Punjab will be eager to win tonight after losing to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their last encounter.
Both teams’ rosters have a few talented and productive players. In light of this, we examine three intriguing player clashes to be aware of.
1. Nehal Wadhera vs Sunil Narine

The PBKS young all-rounder continues to shine in the middle order through his consistent performance with the bat. The seven contests saw the left-handed batter reach 189 runs by maintaining a strike rate of 146.51.
However, Nehal Wadhera has found it difficult to defeat KKR spinner Sunil Narine in their few encounters. Against the West Indian tweaker, the southpaw has only managed two runs in seven deliveries and has been out once.
Having taken seven wickets in as many games, Narine will try to dominate the middle overs, and his matchup with Wadhera will be exciting.
2. Andre Russell vs Yuzvendra Chahal

Andre Russell, the veteran all-rounder for the KKR, has failed to live up to the management’s confidence. The massive West Indian has only amassed 55 runs and claimed six wickets in eight IPL 2025 games thus far.
Russell, on the other hand, has an excellent chance of regaining his form when he faces the PBKS. He will bat in the middle order and take on Yuzvendra Chahal, a veteran leg spinner with a strong record against the Jamaican.
In T20 cricket, Russell has hit 99 runs off 50 balls and been out just once against Chahal. It will be intriguing to watch how Chahal stops the outstanding all-rounder, who has a strike rate of 198 against the Indian spinner.
3. Shreyas Iyer vs Varun Chakravarthy

The former captain of KKR will be let go to establish his dominance at Eden Gardens, where he used to call home during the IPL. Despite leading the club to the IPL 2024 championship, he was abruptly dropped off the retention list prior to the super auction.
This season, Shreyas Iyer has also been playing well at bat, especially against spinners, where he has hit 198 and has not yet been removed.
Varun Chakravarthy, who has observed Iyer’s actions up close, will be in charge of preventing him from blowing up in the middle overs. It will be exciting to watch since two superstars will be competing against one another.
