Abhishek Sharma, the opener for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), was unable to score again. On Friday, April 25, as they were playing the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2025, he was dismissed for a duck.
CSK was bowled out for 154 runs after batting first. Abhishek did not cause any problems for the scorekeepers when he opened the batting but was dismissed for a two-ball duck in the opening over by bowler Khaleel Ahmed.
The youthful opener has drawn criticism and social media trolling after yet another setback. He just managed eight runs and failed to reach double figures in their most recent game against Mumbai.
A fan chastised Abhishek for his ‘blind slogging’ as he went out for a duck.
“Another day, another blind slogging failed. Abhishek Sharma with Duck tonight 😍🔥,” the fan wrote on X (Twitter).

Abhishek hit 141 runs in one game but failed to score any more, which was highlighted by another fan who dubbed the blind slogging unsustainable.
“Abhishek Sharma: 141 runs in one inning, just 99 across 8 others. This is exactly what Fleming meant about blind slogging — it’s not sustainable. You can smash 280 one day like SRH, but flop in most others. Consistency > chaos,” the tweet read.
One fan said that the SRH opener is squandering his talent and opportunities and asked what he hopes to show.
“Na Man Don’t Know What This Guy Abhishek Sharma Wants To Prove in T20 Cricket. Man You are Getting So Many Chances From The Management By Indian Team and Sunrisers Hyderabad But You are Literally Wasting Your Talent, Position, Fame and Success Which You Got….,” the fan tweeted.
Additionally, he received trolling for failing to perform against CSK, who were ahead of SRH in the standings prior to the game.
“Abhishek sharma is washed. CSK ko bhi nahi maar paya (He could not hit CSK as well),” a fan wrote.
The 36-year-old, who retired from T20Is last year, is still a better player than Abhishek, according to a fan who likened him to Virat Kohli.
“36 years old retired Virat Kohli is 100 times better T20 player than Abhishek Fluke Flatpitch Sharma!! We need players like Virat in T20I team & not fluke like Abhishek who will score only when u give them pitch like National Highway else they will fail.”

Fans even went to the extent of calling him a ‘flat track bully’.
“You are mentally sick if you still want to see flat track bully Abhishek Sharma in India T20 team,” a fan tweeted.

“Abhishek Sharma has to be the most flat track bully.. if the pitch holds a bit, he’s done!! Please take Yashasvi and gill for t20 World Cup.. #CSKvsSRH #TATAIPL2025,” another fan wrote.
Abhishek Sharma’s poor form continues in IPL 2025

Abhishek Sharma delivered only a few notable batting performances since his mediocre outings have characterized his whole IPL 2025 campaign. The century he scored with 141 runs stands out among his nine IPL matches as he scored less than 100 runs in eight additional innings.
His performance across nine games demonstrates 241 runs at an average of 26.66 runs per innings with a strike-rate that stands at 180.45.
Abhishek’s inability to perform consistently this season, in contrast to the previous one, has contributed significantly to SRH’s difficulties. Out of eight games (before to the CSK encounter), they have only won twice and lost six times.
