Dewald Brevis, a batsman with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), won accolades from fans for his spectacular knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai during Match 43 of the 2025 Indian Premier League. Brevis hit 42 off 25 in his CSK debut, helping the team score a solid 154 runs.
Shaik Rasheed (0) was dismissed for a golden duck by CSK after they were asked to bat first. Despite having a strong start, Ayush Mhatre (30) was unable to turn it into a significant knock. In contrast, Sam Curran (9) did not perform well in his first IPL match since March 28.
Brevis, who entered at number five, made a vital stand alongside Ravindra Jadeja (21) to comfortably guide the side. In the 12th over, Kamindu Mendis was hit for three sixes by the right-hander, who let go his aggressive purpose.
Mendis, on the other hand, hit a spectacular long-off boundary shot to end Brevis’ innings. The visitors took a steady number of wickets after the dismissal, which opened the floodgates for them.

The Super Kings were ultimately bowled out for 154, with Hooda (22) being the main contributor. With 4/28 numbers, Harshal Patel was SRH’s wrecker-in-chief.

Dewald Brevis represented MI in earlier seasons of IPL

Brevis has already established his talent through his outstanding batting results with Mumbai Indians in the cash-rich league.
Brevis achieved 161 runs through his bat during his inaugural 2022 season by striking the ball at a rate of 142.47. The right-hander scored his best 49 runs from 25 balls against Punjab Kings through repeated hits off Rahul Chahar.
Dewald Brevis then made three appearances for MI in 2024, scoring 69 runs. He didn’t sell at the IPL 2025 auction after being cut loose from the team.

The 21-year-old, however, was named as Gurjapneet Singh’s injury replacement in the CSK team.
