On Monday, May 19, the 61st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will take place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). LSG’s campaign will be over if they lose tonight.
This season, Lucknow has suffered primarily due to inconsistent play. With 10 points, they are currently in seventh place on the table and have lost their last three games. Out of 11 games, they have won five and lost six. To have a chance of qualifying for the playoffs, Lucknow have to win every game in their remaining group.
However, SRH has already been knocked out of this year’s competition. With just seven points from 11 games, they are sagging in the bottom part of the standings (eighth) and have struggled to put together a cohesive effort. With a victory tonight, the SunRisers hope to start again and ruin LSG’s celebration.
A few players on both teams are playing well, so there will be some thrilling duels. To be mindful, we look at three player clashes.
1. Mitchell Marsh vs Pat Cummins

Tonight at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, two Australians will face off against one another. At the top of the order, Mitchell Marsh has been a formidable opponent for LSG. But in the first six overs, Pat Cummins, who has shown promise with the new ball, will probably put him to the test.
In T20 cricket, Marsh has scored 24 runs off of 14 deliveries against Cummins and has only been dismissed once. This duel, which pits two seasoned players against one another, could determine how the match turns out.
2. Heinrich Klaasen vs Digvesh Rathi

In the middle overs, the South African batsman-wicketkeeper has been a relentless worker, racking up runs at a rapid pace. He will be relied upon by SRH to carry the burden of providing a strong finish for the team.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant will try to stop Heinrich Klaasen by passing the ball to leg spinner Digvesh Rathi. Rathi has taken six wickets and has a dot percentage of 33.3 in overs between seven and fifteen.
It will be an exciting clash to watch as two match winners attempt to overwhelm one another.
3. Nicholas Pooran vs Harshal Patel

The West Indian hard-hitter smashed consecutive fifties to start the 2025 Indian Premier League off to a scorching start. Nicholas Pooran put in a lot of effort during the break, despite the fact that his form has since declined.
SRH will send Harshal Patel to bowl at the left-handed batter, who is usually active in the second half of the match. Harshal, who took the highest number of wickets (24) at this year’s IPL, often uses slower deliveries to challenge batters.
As a result, it will be interesting to watch how Pooran handles Harshal, who prefers to slow down the ball. With a strike rate of over 180 and 79 runs off 49 deliveries, the LSG cricketer has so far outscored Harshal.
