Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant received appreciation for withdrawing a non-striker run-out challenge against Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Jitesh Sharma off Digvesh Rathi’s bowling in IPL 2025 Match 70. For RCB, who were hoping for a top-two finish to earn two chances to advance to the IPL final, the game was crucial.
Meanwhile, the incident happened during the 17th over of RCB’s chase. Jitesh, who had just reached his first IPL fifty with a monster six from a free hit, was seeking to lead the team over the line. The RCB captain was well out of his crease when Digvesh broke the stumps at the non-striker’s end on the fourth delivery of the over.

Rathi appealed, and the on-field umpires referred the decision to the third umpire, but the LSG skipper intervened and dropped the appeal. Jitesh was off of his ground, according to the third umpire, but he survived when Rishabh Pant withdrew. When Not Out appeared on the large screen, Jitesh approached Pant and gave him a hug.
Rishabh pant : I will take back the appeal 🔥🔥

Interestingly, the right-handed hitter was dismissed off a reverse sweep on the first ball of the same over, but it turned out to be a back-foot no-ball when Rathi’s foot touched the return crease. The RCB captain survived while batting at 49 and reached his fifty with a six, proving that the no-ball was costly.

At the end of the innings, it was Jitesh and Mayank Agarwal’s efforts that helped RCB chase down their target without much trouble, allowing them to advance to Playoff 1, scheduled for May 29 against the Punjab Kings. Because of their win, RCB made IPL history by winning all seven of their away games during the same season.
