Shreyas Iyer led Punjab Kings' chase with a composed half-century, Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians

Shreyas Iyer talked honestly about leading the Sobo Mumbai Falcons to the Mumbai T20 League 2025 Playoffs after suffering a heartbreak in the IPL 2025 Final. The top player has helped his team advance to the Playoffs in the ongoing event, which includes some of the best players in the world like as Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, among others.

As the Sobo Mumbai Falcons advanced to the playoffs, Iyer was asked about his position as captain in general. The 30-year-old argued that captaincy requires maturity and responsibility. He believed that as the team’s public face, captains were always expected to perform. Iyer was eager for the assignment, pointing out that he has been guiding sides since the age of 22.

“It (captaincy) brings in a lot of maturity and responsibility. You are always expected to perform and contribute in the best way possible for the team because whenever there is a hurdle or some kind of adversity you face as a team, they always come to the captain. I think I have got a lot of experience as I have been captaining since I was 22. I have enjoyed the moments and also embraced it. I love the fact to come out and lead,” Iyer told the T20 Mumbai League.

The PBKS skipper was later questioned about dealing with tight scenarios. He claimed to get into his zone and perform what was in front of him. The outstanding batter recognized the need of staying focused and accepting new challenges.

“I just try to get into my zone, and I try to do things which are there in front of me. I try to stay focused as much as possible, just to stay in the present, embrace the situation, and embrace the crowd because sometimes they get very electrifying and pass on the energy to you. So I keep telling myself that I want the crowd to cheer my name, and that brings that kind of motivation.”
