Jasprit Bumrah may miss India’s second Test match against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which begins on Wednesday, July 2, at Edgbaston, Birmingham, dealing the team a severe blow.

India’s most deadly weapon has been Bumrah, particularly since the Border-Gavaskar series, when the other bowlers did not provide him with the assistance he would have desired. Due to Mohammed Shami’s absence and Mohammed Siraj’s lackluster performance, Bumrah is under a lot of pressure to fulfill the dual responsibilities of restricting runs and taking wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah broke down during the Border-Gavaskar series’ fifth and final Test match after carrying a heavy weight in the first four games. He missed the first few games for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League as well as the ensuing Champions Trophy due to a back injury.

The Indian team management made the decision in advance to keep a close eye on Bumrah’s workload in order to prevent a situation like this. In a news conference following the five-wicket loss in the opening Test in Leeds, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir stated that Bumrah would only play three Test matches in the series.

Since Jasprit Bumrah was the only Indian bowler who appeared capable of taking a wicket in each period at Headingley, this will be a major letdown for Indian supporters. Siraj failed to demonstrate his reputation for penetrating, and Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur proved to be costly. In England’s opening innings, Bumrah took the initiative and scored the series’ first five-for.

But in the second inning, Ben Duckett and company improved their game after learning from their errors. India might send in Akash Deep, who showed potential but had little luck in Australia, or give Arshdeep Singh his Test debut if the Gujarat seamer is forced to drop out.
