Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has stated that Team India is ‘leaning’ towards playing pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in their must-win fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Following losses at Headingley and Lord’s, India is already behind 1-2 in the five-match series.
Ten Doeschate admitted that Jasprit Bumrah will only be available for one of the series’ two final Test matches. In order to minimize his workload, the great seamer is probably only going to play three Test matches throughout the tour.
Although he implied that India would want their best bowler to participate in the pivotal match, he added that the team management would determine his availability in the days ahead.

During a press conference ahead of the fourth Test, ten Doeschate said:
“We will make that call in Manchester. We know we have got him for one of the last two Tests. It’s pretty obvious that the series is on the line in Manchester, so there will be a leaning towards playing him, but again, we will look at all the factors, (like) how many days of cricket are we going to get up there, what do we feel is our best chance of winning that game, and then how that fits in together with Oval and looking at the last two games as holistically as part of the series.”

In the first session of the opening Test series game at the Headingley, Jasprit Bumrah claimed a five-wicket haul against England. The 31-year old was rested in the next game at Edgbaston.
Backed back into the playing XI at Lord s, he had his name on the prestigious Honours Board after a five-fer in the first innings of England. The ace fast bowler follows the next in line in wicket taking in the series after gaining 12 wickets over 4 innings, averaging 21.
“How We Use Him Is Best for the Team” – Ryan ten Doeschate Explains Jasprit Bumrah’s Short Spells in ENG vs IND 2025 Series

Ryan ten Doeschate was questioned about England captain Ben Stokes’ lengthy stints on Day 5 of the Lord’s Test during the press conference. He was asked by a journalist to contrast it with Jasprit Bumrah’s approach to task management.
Ben Stokes was praised by Ten Doeschate as he made a heroic effort. He, however, made it clear that Jasprit Bumrah was someone who was more comfortable with bowling shorter spells and that was how he ought to be utilised playing red-ball cricket.
It can be noted that Stokes bowled a 9.2-over spell during morning session of Day 5. He bowled a cumulative 24 overs during the game and ended with 3 wickets.
The former player who is now a coach stated:
“That was super impressive for Ben to come out in the last and bowl the amount of overs he did and with the intensity. Obviosuly, he bats and fields as well. We are not trying to compare our bowlers to individuals from other teams. We have our own strengths, and we know what Jasprit does in shorter spells, which he prefers bowling in.

“Some bowlers are like that, you get the best out of them in the seventh, eighth or ninth over, but not everyone has to be the same as that. In consultation with Jasprit, how we use him is the best way for the team.”
