Only Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sunil Gavaskar had accomplished this feat before Gill. Gavaskar scored 774 runs in eight innings against the West Indies in 1970/71. In 1978, he batted nine innings and scored 732 runs against them. Jaiswal scored 712 runs against England in five Tests in 2024.

2. Ravindra Jadeja becomes third to achieve double of 1000 runs and 30 wickets in an away country in Tests

The Ravindra Jadeja feat only made him the third player in the Test history to reach a thousand runs/ thirty wickets benchmark in a foreign country. Ravindra Jadeja who made his debut in Test against England in 2014 has 1096 runs in the country after having played 16 matches in his nascent Test career. The all-rounder has got 34 Test wickets in England.

He joined an elite group that included Wilfred Rhodes and Garry Sobers. Rhodes accomplished the feat in Australia. The former English cricketer scored 1032 runs in 20 matches and took 42 wickets. Meanwhile, Garry Sobers scored 1820 runs and took 62 wickets throughout 21 games in England.
