India's Mohammed Siraj (R) reacts as he walks back to the pavilion for lunch on day four of the fifth Test cricket match

Mohammed Siraj was having a difficult time on day 4 of the fifth Test at The Oval. He even missed a basic catch on Harry Brook when the batsman was only on 19. It was an expensive error. Brook then hit a fighting hundred and maintained England into the game until England were near to clinching the series triumph.

The incident occurred in England’s 35th over during their run chase. They were in a difficult situation at 137/3, needing another 210 runs to win the game. Brook attempted a pull shot off Prasidh Krishna’s back-of-a-length ball, but only got a top-edge that sailed to Mohammed Siraj, who was standing at fine leg. The Hyderabad seamer took the catch calmly, but he was unable to consider the boundary cushions. He walked on it after catching the ball, and the England fans went crazy.

Prasidh Krishna began cheering the wicket since he felt the catch was taken cleanly. However, when Siraj grabbed his head in his hand, Krishna realized that he had surrendered six runs instead of taking a crucial wicket. The two Indian pacers exchanged disgruntled glances at that point.

However, at the stroke of lunchtime, Siraj hurried over to Krishna and apologized for his mistake. The latter forgave the elder statesman, and the two hugged each other.

However, the decline proved extremely costly for India. Brook thrashed the Indian bowlers, scoring 111 off 98 balls. He formed a counter-attacking 195-run partnership off 211 deliveries with Joe Root, who also scored his 39th Test century.

On Day 4 at Stumps, England finished with 339/6. They need an additional 35 runs to win the Test match. Meanwhile, India is searching for four wickets. The second fresh ball is expected in 3.4 overs.
