Indian ODI skipper Rohit Sharma has been the subject of conjecture after social media reports indicated that he passed the Yo-Yo fitness test with a score of 19.4. For regular fitness and preseason evaluations, the seasoned opener recently reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. Several players of the Asia Cup 2025 team, including Indian Test captain Shubman Gill, were also tested at the location in addition to Rohit.
Despite the intense online discussion, Rohit’s discoveries have not been formally confirmed. The results of fitness tests are kept very private and are not intended for public release in accordance with BCCI procedures. The board has indeed said in the past that players who leak test results risk severe consequences, such as being kicked off the squad or excluded from the central contract list.

According to these regulations, until the BCCI or its officials make an official pronouncement, the assertions regarding Rohit’s score cannot be taken seriously. Since declaring his retirement from Test cricket, Rohit has never before had a fitness test. Before the season begins, all centrally contracted players must go through mandatory fitness evaluations, according to a BCCI source with knowledge of the situation.
“All players have to undergo a pre-season fitness Test, it’s mandatory as per the contract. These tests help the COE understand the areas the players have to work on or where they are lacking. As there was a big break (after the England Test series), the players were given sets of exercises to do at home,” the BCCI official stated as quoted by Hindustan Times.
India to Introduce Bronco Test in Fitness Program Ahead of Asia Cup 2025

Adrian le Roux, India’s strength and conditioning coach, had previously proposed adding the rugby-inspired Bronco Test to the team’s fitness evaluations. The Indian Express reports that later in the season, the new endurance test would be formally incorporated as a component of the centrally contracted players’ fitness program.
Several Indian players have already undergone fitness tests in the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru in the run-up to the Asia Cup 2025, to be held between September 9 and 16. These were Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India in the Twenty20 Internationals.
