India ODI captain Rohit Sharma seems to be in the preparations phase to make a good comeback to international cricket with new photos posted on his official Instagram page. The star batsman who has not played in India since the Champions Trophy 2025 has already made it known that he would retire in the Test and Twenty20 international cricket and this has made it be considered that he might come to an end to his ODI career as well.
The first picture seems to be one of Rohit jogging up in the training ground of the Mumbai Indians and the emblem is seen in the background. In the second image, he is observed running thus indicating that he is in the process of becoming more fit and preparing to play in the next ODI match in India.

There is a good possibility of Rohit captaining India in the three match series of the ODI against Australia in October. His ODI record has been exemplary in the past years and the switch towards a more aggressive batting style has benefited the team very well.
The 2024 T20 World Cup was won by India which had dominated the 2023 World Cup and finished second under his rule. The fact that Rohit was the most successful captain India has ever had was proven when he guided the team to the finals of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Rohit Sharma Eyes Continued ODI Success After IPL 2025 Comeback
Although it is speculated that he will continue till the 2027 ODI World Cup where his knowledge and experience will play a crucial role in leadership, sources indicate that the coming match of Australia may be his final. However, Rohit Sharma has achieved significant improvement in the fitness, he lost more than eight kg and his Yo-Yo Test score of 19.4 has indicated that he is interested in playing in the ODIs with India.

His last competitive match was with Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 in which he has proved himself in limited-overs game with a batting score of 418 at a strike rate of nearly 150. Every indication is that Rohit will continue being committed to playing ODIs and would be concentrated on taking India to another world cup success.
