Alyssa Healy, the Australian captain, is of the opinion that a new Women world cup must result in a new winner of the competition, which will have the effect of advancing women in terms of their participation in cricket. South Africa and India defeated England and Australia in the first and second semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup 2025, both of which had won a number of titles in the previous one.
Healy says that getting a chance to host the final match of the tournament on Indian soil will be’really amazing’ to them, with their own mad crowd cheering. The same thing concerned Healy with regards to South Africa who are yet to win the Women World Cup. The wicketkeeper-batsman had an optimistic hope that another champion would contribute to the development of women cricket all over the world.

“To see a new winner is going to do wonders for the game. To see how well it’s been supported here in India, first and foremost, I think it’s great for them to be able to have the opportunity to play it at home in front of home fans in an ODI World Cup final which is going to be really special for them,” stated Healy in the post-match press conference, as quoted by India Today.
“I hope it does great things for Indian cricket and likewise for South Africa as well. I think they’ve been close in the past, so for them to have an opportunity in a final, yeah, it’s going to be, going to be great to watch. It’s going to hurt a little bit, but it’s going to be really great to watch and hopefully we see it do great things for the global game and more investment in each of these nations moving forward,” she added.

Australia has won seven of the 12 Women’s World Cup competitions to date. While India has previously reached the 50-over competition final (in 2009 and 2017), this will be South Africa’s first appearance in the crucial match.
The Women’s World Cup 2025 final will take place on Sunday, November 2, at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Laura Wolvaardt’s team defeated the co-hosts in their most recent round robin match.
