Andre Russell, the Jamaican all rounded cricketer, has pledged to retire. Russell is currently only playing the T 20 Internationals, and he will feature in the first two T20I of the five-game series against Australia. One thing to note here is that the first two matches will be held on his home turf, Jamaica, at the Sabina PArk.

Andre Russell made his announcement seven months ahead of the upcoming T20 world Cup, a joint hosted by Sri Lanka and India in February 2026. Talking of his retirement day, Andre Russell was reminded of his dream of playing for his country and he said that playing for his country was his most proud thing. Knight Riders star stated:

“Words cannot explain what it meant. To represent the West Indies has been one of the proudest achievements in my life. When I was a kid, I did not expect to get to this level, but the more you start to play and get to love the sport, you realise what you can achieve. This inspired me to become better because I wanted to leave a mark in the maroon colours and become an inspiration to others.”
