According to an experienced Indian batsman, Ajinkya Rahane, T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav did not have a stellar series with the bat against England earlier this year. In five innings the latter only scored 28 runs with a strike rate of 116.66. The former India Test captain did mention, however, the spectacular performance of Suryakumar in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he became the first batter in the history of the event to make 25 or more runs in 16 consecutive innings.
Suryakumar got 717 runs at an average of 65.18 and a strike rate of 167.91 to become the second-highest run scorer in the 2025 Indian Premier League. Despite being a dangerous batter, Rahane observed that it will be intriguing to see how Suryakumar will behave after he undergoes a surgery to fix the sports hernia in June.

“Didn’t have a good series against England, but came back to form in IPL with five fifties and finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with a healthy strike rate. We all know Surya is a dangerous batter. In this format, he has done really well. But it will be interesting to see how he goes about his batting, especially after the surgery,” Rahane said on his YouTube channel.
Ajinkya Rahane hails captaincy style as proactive

Rahane praised Suryakumar Yadav saying he made bold decisions. The ex-captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders further opined that the batting performance of Suryakumar in the Asia Cup will be of great importance to the Men in Blue.
“As a captain, he has been fantastic. He is a proactive captain, led the team really well in the past, but I feel, in this Asia Cup, his batting will be really important.”
