The Indian top-order came into the limelight in the sense that the team trained in the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday, before playing the second ODI with Australia. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli had only the 18 collective runs in the opener in Perth, all of them trapped in early powerplay and lost the game by 7 wickets.
Rain again caused interruptions during Tuesday’s practice. As reported by RevSportz, the players were initially set to train indoors, but once the rain stopped, the ground staff quickly prepared the outdoor nets. With the surface still damp, the pacers took it easy. Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh bowled briefly to the top-order batters before heading to the gym along with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.
Rohit was the first to step into the nets, working on handling Josh Hazlewood’s back-of-a-length deliveries, which troubled him in the first ODI. The Indian skipper was also seen discussing batting plans and sharing inputs with Shubman Gill during the session.

Virat Kohli, who was dropped by Mitchell Starc in Perth due to the duck, found a way back to concentration in a 45-minute net practice, which was intense. Upon a couple of warm-up throws, he requested full-speed throwdowns and hit with a determination of ferocity, talking to himself and stretching his energy levels during the practice.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Gear Up to End Rusty Spell Ahead of Adelaide ODI
Though Kohli was not perfect during his session, as he bumped a few balls and misjudged some of the others, he managed to remain calm, and delivered some of the good hits and good pulls. Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir also participated actively in the session and played with the players and discussed hitting skills. On Wednesday morning, the Indian team will have a last training session on the second ODI.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both will be seeking an opportunity to shut down their critics with a strong batting performance at Adelaide. The Perth match showed a certain degree of rust, as they had not played an international game in seven months and both of the players had not played since the termination of IPL 2025 in June.
